Back-to-Back Gold at Empires for the Travel Team!
Representing the Thomas Creek Figure Skating Club, the Mirror Images Intermediate team took first place at the 30th Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid, NY Feb. 19 - 21. The Intermediate division is the highest level held for synchronized skating at this event and the skaters competed against teams fromacross the state. The second place team hails from Albany and the third place team from Syracuse. Synchronized team skating is one ofthe fastest growing disciplines offered by US Figure Skating. It involves teams of 8-20 skaters moving as a unit, creating different geometric shapes on the ice such as circles, lines, triangles, blocksand pinwheels while executing complex footwork in time to theirmusic. Mirror Images team members range in age from 14-18 and all attend area schools. Congrats ladies!

Gold & Bronze Medals for the
Mirror Images Teams Competing at Oswego!
The Mirror Images Beginner and Open-Juvenile teams competed at the 13th Annual Port City Invitational held Febrary 5 - 7 in Oswego, NY.
The Beginner team won their division and brought home the gold medal with their program that depicts a love story. Skating to music called "Butterflying," the Open-Juvenile team took third place and was happy to bring home the bronze. Congrats to the ladies on both teams and to their coaches!

The Mirror Images would like to thank Vicki Korn for stopping in to look over and critique all of the team's programs this past weekend. It was a huge success and the skaters had a blast working with her. Thank you Vicki!

Skaters may bring water and snack foods.
*Travel team skaters are strongly encouraged to eat dinner before they come.

Broadway on Ice

All three Mirror Images teams performed in the Thomas Creek Figure Skating Club show Broadway on Ice. Several team skaters performed in many other numbers. Thank you to co-directors Jessica Stratton and Kathy Goodrich for putting on a fantastic show! The show was a fun way to end a successful season. Great job ladies!

Introducing MISSS TC!
The Mirror Images coaches and operating committee are proud to present the
2009 Mirror Images Synchro Skating Skills at Thomas Creek (MISSS TC).
Although ironically named the "off-season" May - August is the best time to increase your overall skating ability by working on fundamental skating skills such as stamina, strength and footwork. Training sessions will concentrate on the footwork, skating elements and transitions used in synchronized skating. Each session will be divided into two segments.

Broadway on Ice
All of the Mirror Images teams will be performing in the Thomas Creek FSC Spring Show, Broadway on Ice, Saturday, May 16 at 5:00 PM at Thomas Creek Ice Arena.
Hair and makeup will be at the rink starting at 3:00 PM.

Empire Gold for Mirror Images. Mirror Images synchronized team proudly represented Fairport's Thomas Creek Figure Skating Club at the 29 th annual Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid by winning the Gold medal! The Open Juvenile event, offered at the Games for the first time this year, was held at the Herb Brooks Arena in the Olympic Center. This venue is the same ice made famous by the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team's miracle win over the Soviet Union. Challenged by an elite group of six other teams, the Mirror Images captured first place earning their own gold medals. The Empire State Winter Games are conducted with the support of the Olympic Regional Development Authority. As a result of earning a medal in the Empire State Games, the Mirror Images team is now eligible to compete in the 2009 State Games of America (SGA), the premier, national multi-sport event for athletes of all ages and abilities, being held in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

synchronized skating team has 11 members ranging in age from 12-18.
They practice twice a week from September through April at the Thomas
Creek Ice Arena in Fairport. Upcoming events include performances at
ice shows in Geneseo and Fairport, as well as competing at the 7th
annual Skate Challenge competition in Syracuse in mid-March.
